The dissertation investigates whether ecotourism leads to the sustainable development of the tourist industry in Dubai. Literature is reviewed on the theory of sustainable tourism explaining the concept of eco tourism, the relationship between ecotourism and sustainable tourism development, the contribution of tourism to the economy of Dubai, etc. A case study is conducted of the luxurious accommodation project Al Maha Resort exploring its social, economic, and environmental characteristics to evaluate its impacts on ecotourism in Dubai. The research is based on secondary data analysis. Conclusions are made about the benefits and shortcomings of ecotourism in Dubai and the relationship between the community and ecotourism.
