The Environmental Statement chosen for a critical evaluation in this paper is for the proposal of a second opening bridge across the Backwater Channel, Holes Bay, Poole. The Borough of Poole will be applying to the Secretary of State for Transport under the Transport and Works Act to include an approach road from West Quay Road to the bridge and a short ramp and link road on the former power station site. The Environmental Impact Assessment Directive and Regulations refer to the importance of assessing impacts on the ecology of the project, and how it may affect the local wildlife and habitat. The study assesses where more research on the viability of the proposal could be influential to the eventual decision that is made.
