Literature is reviewed on the history of soccer in the USA and in Germany, marketing strategies used in the soccer industry, etc. A comparative case study is conducted of American soccer team LA Galaxy (Major League Soccer - MLS) and the German team FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga). Analysis of the teams is performed using the models of PEST and marketing mix, their segmentation and promotion models are explored. The dissertation is based on secondary research and primary data obtained from questionnaires and interviews with customers to determine their perceptions of merchandising products offered by the two teams. Conclusions are made about differences in marketing strategies used in Germany by FC Bayern Munich and in America by LA Galaxy.
