This paper looks at the current market position of Unilever a global conglomerate and one of the world's largest suppliers of fast moving consumer goods (Unilever, 2009). Three popular and well respected qualitative analytical tools have been utilised. At the outset, a PESTLE analysis was employed to facilitate the macro understanding of market risks, growth and decline. Secondly, using a Porter's Five Forces analysis Unilever's strategic position and the competitive intensity of the consumer goods markets that Unilever operates within was examined. Finally, a SWOT analysis was used to audit and highlight Unilever's current internal strengths and weaknesses. The SWOT analysis also examined the current and future threats and opportunities facing Unilever.
