The dissertation investigates organisational approaches to innovation focusing on Business Process Re-engineering (BPR). Literature is reviewed on the theory and history of BPR including the tools and techniques of BPR, the relationship between BPR and total quality management (TQM), BPR mapping, the issues of BPR implementation, etc. A case study is conducted of BPR implemented in an engineering organisation that introduces automation as an innovative approach. The methods of the research include secondary and primary data collected from a questionnaire among the process management team members. Conclusions are made about the challenges, benefits and results of BPR in the organisation.
