The dissertation examines the financial method of Priority-Based Budgeting (PBB) using a case study of BAE Systems, a defence systems provider that export contracts outside the UK and America. Literature is reviewed on the use of PBB by organisations, the PBB process, its role in setting up annual budget, and other types of based budgeting, e.g. ZBB (Zero Based Budgeting) and ABC (Activity Based Costing). The research is based on the combination of qualitative and quantitative approaches, the methods of secondary analysis are combined with the analysis of primary data collected from questionnaires and interviews within BAE and other companies among managers and PBB team members. Conclusions are made about the advantages of PBB as a mechanism for resolving organisational problems.
