The Internet is continuously spreading to the population of the technologically developed world and, as it begins to realise the impact that the World Wide Web has on consumers, the banking industry is trying to take advantage of the new media, by expanding its businesses in new markets, or gaining higher market shares in existing markets. But as everyone is busy building the new economy, one very important question arises. Is banking on the Internet secure, or are we building an electronic Tower of Babel? The aim of this project is to examine the vulnerabilities of the Internet banking system, the methods of protection, the dan:gers involved and the attitude of the consumer towards all these changes with a view to the future.
