The dissertation explores the relationship between the GDP and stock market performance in the UK and USA seeking to identify whether the stock market influences GDP or vice versa. The review of literature touches on the methods previously used to establish the relationship between the stock market and economic growth. The methods of the research are based on econometric analysis of secondary data, cointegration and causality tests are conducted using the methodologies of Engle-Granger and Johansen.
