The paper examines whether financial markets require a code of ethics such as the one issued by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts (ICFA). The functions of ethical codes are explained discussing unethical practices of Enron’s manipulation with accounting statements, and providing examples of unethical behaviour towards clients.
