This essay deals with two questions analysing the differences in cultural values and shows how Indian values reflect one's Indian background. I will discuss whether Indian values tend to reflect Indian cultural background or whether values and culture cannot be linked in this context. Some of the areas that I will discuss here include gender roles and behaviour and the differing types of work suitable for men and for women and the values that govern relationships and socialization. Some of the other areas discussed in the first section of the question would relate to food behaviour such as table manners, serving of food, importance of food in a social event etc. School achievement, relationships with friends, parental authority and discipline, relationships with siblings and general attitudes towards work are also discussed. Second part of the discussion deals with the Indian communication style and how it differs from the other cultural communication styles. The misunderstandings that are likely to arise due to differing communication styles would also highlight the distinguishing features of these cultures.
