S/EN/46. Low Speed Aerodynamics: Pressure and Lift on Wing and Flap

WORDS:
3100
DATE:
2009
PRICE:
39.99 GBP

The paper reports on the experiment conducted to measure pressure distribution on the wing consisting of a plain trailing edge flap. The changes in pressure distribution caused by the deflection of the flap are assessed considering integrated pressure across the chord giving lift co-efficient for varied combinations of angle of incidence and flap deflections. Flap effectiveness is calculated and compared to theoretical prediction.

KEYWORDS: Pressure distribution, wing, flap, lift co-efficient, angle of incidence, deflection,

P/EN/19. Coefficient of drag in pressure distribution around a circular cylinder

WORDS:
2000
DATE:
2006
PRICE:
29.99 GBP

The paper reports on pressure distribution around a circular cylinder. The coefficient of drag is calculated for a laminar and turbulent flows on the basis of a wind tunnel aerodynamic test.

E/EN/11. Fuselage Design: Preliminary Design Review

WORDS:
2500
DATE:
2005
PRICE:
29.99 GBP

The paper presents a tanker design examining the fuselage structure in an aircraft, and addressing the problems of pressurization, cockpit environment, emergency evacuation, etc. Fuselage dimensions are defined, stress analysis of the aircraft design is conducted.

P/EN/16. Material selection in aircraft design

WORDS:
1000
DATE:
2005
PRICE:
19.99 GBP

The paper seeks to prove the importance of material selection in aircraft design conducting a case study of Comet aircraft wreckage. The reasons for the aircraft failure are discussed revealing errors in fatigue test assessment. Methods of avoiding risks in aircraft design are outlined.

P/EN/17. Design and operational features of axial flow compressor

WORDS:
3500
DATE:
2005
PRICE:
39.99 GBP

The paper investigates the design and operation features of a motor driven axial flow compressor subjecting it to different flow conditions at various loading speeds and making calculations for mass flow, work done and pressure rise. Experimental results are discussed highlighting errors and explaining their nature.

S/EN/21. Applications of Reliability Engineering

WORDS:
1800
DATE:
2004
PRICE:
19.99 GBP

Preventative maintenance is being used more commonly amongst high risk applications to increase the reliability and therefore, safety. This paper views its possible applications in an aeronautical context, concentrating on preventative maintenance. Contains formulae for calculating reliability and is well referenced.

S/EN/18. Boundary Layers, Flat Plate Flow, Wing Planforms and Normal Shock Waves

WORDS:
2900
DATE:
2003
PRICE:
29.99 GBP

This assignment covers basic laws and theories involved with aerodynamics from basic to more advanced levels. The topics covered include boundary layers, shock waves, horse shoe vortices, wing planforms and thermodynamic laws. These areas are addressed by the answering of questions set in the assignment sheets at the back of this assignment.

S/EN/20. Aircraft Piston Engines

WORDS:
3500
DATE:
2003
PRICE:
39.99 GBP

This assignment reviews the dismantling of a 4 cylinder piston engine and discusses the internal components of piston engines as well as the configurations in which they can be found. This includes a straight, horizontally opposed and radial piston engine. Includes pictures and formulae.

S/EN/22. Thermodynamics and Gas Turbine Cycles

WORDS:
1400
DATE:
2002
PRICE:
19.99 GBP

This assignment looks into jet turbine propulsion by asking questions that could be faced in an every day situation by engineers/designers in the propulsion field. The aim of the assignment is not to discover some of the principles first hand by conducting experiments, but instead, by conducting research and reading current literature. Including diagrams and formulae.
