The dissertation investigates the contribution of small and medium sized enterprises (SME) to the economic growth and international trade with the focus on the UK. The review of literature touches on the features of SME in macroeconomic context including SME roles in job creation, trade development, business environment, crisis management, etc. The methodology is based on the case study of British SME using a qualitative and quantitative analysis of secondary sources. Conclusions are made about the impact of SME on the economic growth of the UK in comparison to other factor affecting the country’s development.
