The paper examines the measurements of the country’s national wealth and wellbeing via Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Product (GNP) critically examining the value of these economic indicators and comparing them to Gross National Happiness (GNH) introduced in Bhutan. Definitions of GNH are reviewed, the methods of its measurement are discussed. Conclusions are made about a more holistic approach to measuring a country’s economic performance.
