The dissertation investigates the drivers of the economic development of emerging economies using a case study of China and its export-led growth. Literature is reviewed on the basics of the export-led economic growth identifying types of export, benefits and limitations of export-oriented industrialisation, economic reforms in China, contribution of FDI and Joint Ventures to Chinese economy, the role of the country’s accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), etc. The dissertation is based on the methods of secondary research. Conclusions are made about the current economic situation in China, the areas affected and unaffected by the economic industrialisation, and the challenges faced by the country. The paper is supplied with a reflective analysis of the researcher’s learning experience gained in the course of work.
