The dissertation analyses the impacts of the current economic downturn on the UK housing sector. Literature is reviewed on the causes and consequences of price turbulence and the “ripple effect” within the UK housing market during the recession, the trend in UK housing price decrease over 2007-2009, etc. The dissertation uses secondary and primary research including the analysis of one hundred questionnaires collected from estate agents, members of the local community and a senior employee of the Bank of England. Conclusions are made about the current situation within the housing sector and its managerial implications.
