The paper looks at the current food crisis in the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) examining the situation in the two major countries in the SCO, i.e. Russia and China. It is stated that in spite of the differences in their economies and politics, both countries experience food crisis reflected in high prices and deficit of the products. The causes of the crisis and macroeconomic indicators of the two countries are analyzed, strategies for overcoming the problems are suggested.
