The dissertation investigates foreign direct investments (FDI) made by transnational corporations (TNC) into the economies of China and India establishing FDI determinants and analysing attractive and deterring factors for FDI in both countries. Literature is reviewed on the definitions of FDI, the reasons for TNC to engage in FDI, the variables and determinants of FDI, etc. PESTLE analysis is conducted of the factors affecting FDI in China and India. The methodology of the dissertation is based on secondary data and primary data collected via questionnaires aimed to establish what motivates foreign companies to invest into India and China. Statistical analysis of political, social and economic variables of both countries is performed. Conclusions are made about FDI success in China and the deterrents to foreign investment in India.
