The movements examined are the 2007 Lawyers Movement against President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan, uprisings against president Zain Al Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia, and the uprisings against Hosni Mubarak of Egypt respectively. The paper begins by defining social media and civil society movements, before examining the three civil movements mentioned.
