The dissertation investigates the use of facial recognition as a method to prevent cyber bullying. Literature is reviewed on the definitions and types of cyber bullying listing the methods uses by bullies on the Internet and mobile phones, discussing the adverse effects of the stress caused by cyber bullying on the victims of the bullies, explaining the intentions behind bullying, discussing the ways to reduce the strain caused by bullying, examining facial recognition technologies and their applications against the menace of cyber bullying, reviewing legislation against cyber bullying crime, outlining the respective roles of parents and school, etc. Conclusions are made about the threats of cyber bullying for the younger generation and the ability of facial recognition technology in combination with online communication channels to deal with the problem.
