The paper addresses the loss of privacy through providing personal information to websites and accepting its storage in “cookies” with further implications for e-commerce and data security. A study is proposed to examine the knowledge of the Internet users about cookies and the informed consent that must be sought from websites that store cookies on their computers. The design of the study is described, its ethical issues are considered, the objectives of the research are formulated, the plan of work is outlined.
