The paper argues whether the use of the Internet has enabled multinational enterprises (MNE) to become global organizations. The pre-Internet situation in MNE is described, the influence of the Internet and information technologies (IT) is considered analyzing respective changes in organisational strategies, structures and operations of MNE. IT challenges faced by MNE are discussed.
