The dissertation explores the effects of the Internet on the UK and US advertising industry. Literature is reviewed on the growing Internet audience, the use of the Internet for marketing purposes, its impacts on the marketing industry, and respective changes in value chain, customer data collection, communication channels, etc. The research combines qualitative and quantitative approaches using explanatory methods of secondary data analysis to compare the expenditures on online advertising with the expenditures on traditional marketing tools. Conclusions are made about the correlation between the growth in Internet users and online marketing and advertising expenditures.
