Since the commercialisation of the internet, considerable researches have been conducted in the area of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and ebusiness adoption. However, review of existing literature revealed gaps in regard to industries and regions. This current research proposes to address these gaps in knowledge. In particular, a cross-cultural comparative study is made to identify the barriers faced by SMEs in the construction industry in adopting ebusiness strategies. Four cases are selected using purposeful sampling method and data is collected using semi-structured interview and surveys. Two methods of data collection are used in order to enable the triangulation of data helping to ensure the validity and reliability of data. The gathered qualitative data will be analysed using grounded theory approach.
