The dissertation investigates environmental impacts of Bulgarian tourism describing the role of tourism in the country's economy and addressing the problem of environmental sustainability currently faced by Bulgaria due to the rapid development of the tourist industry. The review of literature touches on the features of Bulgaria as a tourist destination including its geographical location, cultural heritage, leisure activities, the benefits from tourism for the public and private sectors, etc. The research is conducted using the framework of interpretive philosophy and inductive approach based on secondary data analysis. Statistical findings related to environmental factors are discussed, conclusions are made about the environmental damages related to air pollution, noise, waste, biodiversity, etc. Recommendations are suggested about the ways to regulate Bulgarian environmental sustainability.
