This dissertation discusses the oases in the Al Ain region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The study begins by providing background information on the town in reference to its geographical location, as well as its environmental and historical value. The aims of the study are to explore the loss of integration and connectivity between the oases in Al-Ain and to highlight the effect this has on cultural identity. A historical overview of Al-Ain is carried out, as well as an assessment of the recent changes to the oases. Tourism value and cultural identity in the town of Al-Ain is discussed, and the dissertation examines the Al-Ain 2030 plan in reference to urban development. Conclusions are made regarding the future of Al-Ain.
