The dissertation investigates the problem of age discrimination in hospitality organisations based on the study of small and medium (S&M) sized hotels in London. Literature is reviewed on the nature and origins of age discrimination, the issues of age discrimination in the hospitality industry, UK age related legislation, the benefits of diversity for organisations, etc. The methodology of the research includes exploratory and narrative approaches to the secondary data and primary data obtained from questionnaires distributed in S&M London hotels as well as a telephone interview with a hotel manager. Conclusions are made about the benefits of having workers of different age groups. Recommendations are suggested for the hotels to improve diversity in the workplace.
