The dissertation examines how Madrassa schools contribute to the development and informal learning of Muslim children. Literature is reviewed on the impact of the 9/11 attacks on the portrayals of Islam and Madrassa schools in the media, the history and background of Madrassas, various schools of though within Islam, etc. A case study of a Madrassa school in Nottingham is conducted using the methods of primary research through semi-structured interviews with the pupils, parents and teachers. Conclusions are made about the contribution of Madrassas to the development of multicultural and multiethnic society.
