The paper offers a proposal for a study of the physiological properties of native cochlear mechanotransducer channels comparing them with those of the mechanosensory vallanoid receptor TRPV4. The aims of the research are identified including the confirmation of the presence of conserved TRPV4 channel sequence in the turtle cochlear tissue, and measurement of the in vivo turtle auditory response to TRPV4 pharmacological blocker application.
