This dissertation investigates food preferences and mood during two phases of the menstrual cycle, the follicular phase at day 10 and the luteal phase at day 22. There were 14 participants, aged 18-35 years old were asked to complete food diaries, food preference charts and mood scales. The review of literature assesses different aspects of mood and food preferences prior to and following ovulation. The paper concludes with the view that tryptophan and carbohydrate-rich may be preferred food, whether this is linked to mood is also discussed.
