This dissertation aims to assess how well Eastern European countries have integrated into the EU. The countries that are examined are Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Poland. The countries are examined in reference to occupation and revolutions, as well as the new bodies of politics. The accession criteria is outlined and discussed, and the dissertation then looks at the economic and general transition the countries in question made. Conclusions are made regarding whether or not the new entrants can be seen as successes or failures.
