The dissertation explores the efficiency of decentralisation in reducing social problems in Cambodia. Literature is reviewed on the political and economic situation in Cambodia after the civil wars and the famine of the 20th century, the neo-liberal approach to decentralisation, the interpretation of the decentralisation concept in the French in English cultures, the relation between decentralisation and corruption, etc. The study is based on secondary research. Conclusions are made about the effect of decentralisation and the new government policies on the social problems in Cambodia.
