The dissertation investigates the process mapping technique of business process re-engineering (BPR) providing a review of literature on the theory of innovation in organisations, BPR history and techniques, coexistence of BPR and TQM, applications of BPR, process quality management (PQM), etc. Research methods and data collection techniques are described. A case study of BPR in a manufacturing firm is conducted analysing their approaches to innovation implementation. Conclusions are made about the role of the process based innovation in raising the company’s effectiveness.
