This proposal assesses whether doctors and nurses who have a flexible work-life balance have lower levels of stress than those who follow a less flexible work pattern. The dissertation, which presents a detailed literature review and a clear outline of research rationale and methodology, considers the effectiveness and benefits of a flexible work-life balance – also mentioning levels of stress-related absence in the NHS and other sectors. The research follows a stratified sampling method, with the research survey having been conducted among doctors and nurses at an NHS hospital. The respondents were randomly chosen – this sampling method allowing researchers to draw an inference for each group more effectively. Data analysis is conducted using SPSS technology, with Cronbach’s alpha system used to ensure data reliability.
