This dissertation focuses on the position and development of international commercial arbitration in Asia. The study begins by introducing the concept of arbitration, Asian culture and construction disputes. The dissertation then goes on to examine international commercial arbitration in practice, and focuses on the New York convention, the UNCITRAL Law, and the general law covering international arbitration. Arbitration in Asia is then examined, and the study discusses centres in Asia, like China and Kuala Lumpur. The different types of construction contracts are identified, and the dissertation examines the concept of arbitration in construction disputes. Conclusions are made regarding the alternatives to arbitration in regards to the resolution of construction disputes.
