The dissertation looks at the policies of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) towards the development of sustainable healthcare in developing countries. An overview of both organisations and their policies is presented, the community healthcare system of Uganda is examined analysing the role of external factors including WHO and IMF initiatives, on the introduction of a community healthcare system in the country. The dissertation is based on the methods of secondary research and primary research conducted in Ugandan health workers via interviews. Conclusions are made about the effectiveness of the poverty reduction plan and healthcare services in Uganda.
