The dissertation is focused on a case study of GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and the company’s initiative of offshoring part of their activities. The dissertation outlines how offshoring provides a number of benefits to firms such as lowering the cost of services as well as concentrating the skills and capabilities of specific functions in one area, and these benefits are expected to ensure that firms will continue to pursue offshoring as part of their overall strategy. The dissertation addresses the following issues: Understand the communications and training challenges that US and UK firms faced in their transactions with Indian IT vendor personnel, Assess the communications between the US and UK personnel with their India counterparts, and provide recommendations to address the challenges identified in the communications and training related to off shoring of functions.
