The dissertation examines the process of football commercialization through the liberalisation of the football labour market focusing on the implications of a third party ownership and arguing whether it has improved the quality of the game. The review of literature touches on the development of the football transfer market addressing the issue of the third party ownership with regard to the Brazilian football market. The dissertation uses the methods of exploratory and descriptive secondary research combined with the primary research of the data collected from semi-structured interviews with the CEOs of the South American sports marketing company Traffic Sports. Conclusions are made about the outcomes of commercialisation in the football industry highlighting the concerns about the effectiveness of third parties in international transfers of Brazilian football players.
