The dissertation looks at the human resource outsourcing (HRO) in the context of globalisation arguing the HRO strategy as an important source of competitive advantage for companies in the current business environment. The review of literature touches on the concept of outsourcing, the link between HRO and cost theories, the issues of HRO control, the impacts of HRO on psychological contract and employee motivation, the implications of national and organisational culture on HRO strategy, etc. A generic HRO framework is developed that can be used across different industries. The paper uses the inductive research approach combining primary (interviews) and secondary methods of data collection. A case study is conducted of HRO strategies used by British Petroleum (BP), Jobcentre Plus, and British Telecommunication (BT). Conclusions are made about the implications for management with regard to HRO, recommendations are suggested about the steps of effective HRO implementation and the areas of HRO that need management attention.
