The dissertation looks at serial murders against prostitutes committed in different periods of the English history examining the cases of the Yorkshire Ripper (Jack the Ripper) and the Ipswich Red Light District murder, and analysing their press coverage. Literature is reviewed on sexist terrorism and violence against women, prejudice towards prostitutes, etc. Secondary sources are used for the research including newspaper archives. Conclusions are made about the shift in the representation of the victims showing how they were perceived as innocent and as those who deserved brutal treatment.
