This proposal is for a study on UK property developers in the economic crisis. The study aims to evaluate the lessons they can learn from the crisis to create sustainable property developers in the future. The objectives are to evaluate property cycle theories in the context of property “booms” and “busts” in the UK since the 1970s, to examine the impact of the financial crisis on the property market in the UK, to identify sustainable property portfolios, and to investigate a cross section of property developers in the UK housing market and examine their practices prior to the financial crisis and the modifications to the portfolio during and after the financial crisis. The proposal also identifies aspects of the methodology.
