This proposal presents research for a dissertation on profitability and corporate governance in public firms. The paper aims to find out whether the size of the board has an impact on profitability, to find out whether the board composition has an impact on profitability, and to explore whether CEO duality affects profitability of the companies. The theoretical and empirical aspects of the literature review are detailed, and the methodology section states that data will be collected from the Thomson One Banker database and through use of models suggested by Kyereboah-Coleman and Biekpe (2005) and Abidin et al (2009).
