The dissertation considers the risks of particular concern to financial regulators examining and evaluating the risks dealt with under Basel I and II for capital adequacy purposes with special emphasis upon the treatment of securitised products and derivatives. Literature is reviewed on the background of the regulatory concern and the Basel enactments for achieving financial regulation regarding the treatment of securitised products and derivatives. Types of risk are identified including capital risks, market risks, operational risks, etc, the regulatory capital standards for securitisation are considered discussing the framework provided in Basel II to amend the system. Conclusions are made about the most effective e approaches to the regulation of derivatives.
