This is a proposal for a study that aims to examine the impact of the financial crisis on Islamic banks, and aims to compare this impact with non-Islamic banks. The objectives are to examine if Islamic banks are better capitalised thus more secured than commercial banks and if Islamic banks are more profitable or produce higher returns for their investors than conventional banking institutions. The proposal outlines the plan and structure of the literature review and the methodology. The proposal then outlines the dissertation chapters.
