The dissertation examines the perceptions and attitudes of women living in Lebanon with regard to dress and lifestyle. A study is conducted using interviews with Lebanese women and retailers to identify their preferences toward fashion and latest trends in dressing style. The changing role of religion and Islam in determining dress choices is discussed. Conclusions are made about women's personal rather than traditional choices in fashion, dress and lifestyle. The paper reflects on the global rather than a culture specific role of marketing and the role of women in the global changes driven by the fashion industry.
