This dissertation discusses the different sanctions imposed on Iran by different multilateral and unilateral bodies. The objectives are to critically evaluate the current strategic position of the Sinopec in Iran, to critically analyse the impact of the sanctions on the external environment of oil and gas industry in Iran, to critically evaluate the impact of the sanctions on the microenvironment of the country, to evaluate the opportunities/threats presented to the company by the sanctions on Iran, to appraise the impact of the sanction on the operations of the company, and to recommend alternative business strategies to Sinopec for its Iran operations. The review of literature discusses a range of topics, and evaluates the unilateral sanctions by Canada, republic of South Korea, Australia, and UAE. The study carries out a PESTEL and Porters five forces analysis on the subject, and details the research plan and methodology. The findings are illustrated and analysed, and conclusions are made regarding recommendations.
