The paper proposes to look into voting preferences using the theory of information visualization and data mining to explore the link between elected officials, their racial identity and their placing on the ballot paper. The objectives of the research are outlined. Literature is reviewed on the existing studies of the use of data mining and visualization techniques as a means to establish a pattern between the position of the candidate on the ballot paper and voter choices. Research methodology is described, the plan of work and the use of resources are considered, the ethical issues of the study are addressed.
