The paper examines the area of artificial intelligence (AI) activity known as ‘chat bot’ or chatterbot / chatterbox. The history of chatterbot’s development and contest participation is reviewed describing the varieties of AI and focusing on the creation of a chat bot programme in Azile. The design and functions of the chat bot are discussed highlighting the improvements offered by the programme. The issues of natural language processing (NLP) are addressed.
