The dissertation investigates the changes in consumer behaviour (CB) towards supermarkets’ own brands during the economic recession in the UK. Literature is reviewed on the theory of CB, the implications of the UK recession, CB towards supermarket products, customer loyalty towards supermarket brands, etc. The methods of the research are based on the analysis of secondary data and primary data collected from a questionnaire survey of consumers randomly selected across UK supermarkets. Conclusions are made about the impact on the economic downturn on the disposable income of UK consumers and their behaviour towards purchasing supermarkets’ own bands of products.
