It is the beginning of the end for nuclear age. However, what do we do with 60 tons of plutonium in the UK alone? The waste is too radioactive to bury and has a half-life of 25,000 years. Moreover, if we keep it aboveground then we are relying of responsible managements for thousands of years to come and are faced with the risk of nuclear waster being stolen to create nuclear weapons.
