The dissertation investigates the benefits of effective risk management (RM) for oil and gas (O&G) project development. Literature is reviewed on the concept of risk and risk management (RM), the external and internal hazards associated with oil and gas projects, the challenges of new O&G product development, etc. Research methodology is based on the analysis of secondary data and the cases related to oil and gas development issues. Conclusions are made about the sources of risk in O&G industry and the risk categories that lie within the scope of managerial control.
